For those that never had the privilege of knowing Brian, you really missed something. He was a gifted mountaineer although, I believe he would have preferred the word climber. He joined the Royal Marines as a lad and went on to serve most of his 22 years of military service in the SBS and was an instructor to his comrades and peers alike.
Brian was awarded the Queen's award for bravery in 1996 but would never tell you this. Brian was a philosopher and didn't suffer fools lightly but would always side with the under dog.
I could never do justice to you Brian, even with a million pages. I know that you would be happy to know that you left your mark on me my friend. I am honoured to have worked with you and that you considered me a pal and confidant. You are in my thoughts every day.
"We few, we happy few, we band of brothers".
Thanks for the beers Bri, Martin.
It is our aim to arrange a trust fund in Brian's name. This fund will be used to help our fraternal members (and their families) who have been injured in hostile theatres and neglected and forgotten by the companies they deployed for. It is also our aim to ensure that the insurance companies do honour their policies and that all hiring companies concerned have a "Duty of care" to the injured, deceased and their families.
We hope that soon the Trust Fund will be set up, we would be glad to accept donations however small.
